Understanding Payment Fees on Heja

At Heja, we’re committed to keeping fees as low as possible. That’s why we only charge around 2–5% in payment processing fees.

Why card fees vary

The exact fee depends on the fee amount and your location, as card processing fees differ between countries.

  • 🇪🇺 In the EU, the total fee is approximately 2%, including all card fees.

  • 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 In the US and UK, the total fee is slightly higher — around 4–5%, due to higher card processing costs. The fee in the UK has been raised since Brexit.

Here’s how it works (figures are estimates):

Fee Owed

% of Total

€50

€1

2.0%

€200

€4

€450

💡 The higher the fee, the lower the percentage cost, and vice versa.

Who pays the card fee?

The payer always covers the fee, never the team.
So if someone pays £450 + card fees, the team will still receive £450 in full.

No hidden costs

All payment and card fees are shown on the payment total page when paying a fee.
There are no additional charges — what you see is what you pay.

Paying through the app is currently not possible in Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
