Heja takes the safety and security of our users - especially those under 18 - very seriously.
Our safeguarding feature is automatically enabled on every new team. This allows parents to monitor all conversations between their child and other members of the team. Admins can check this feature is on in Team > Settings > Team Privacy > Safeguarding
Children whose accounts are managed by their parents (i.e. a placeholder account which they don't have a login for) cannot receive any messages.
Age verification: During the sign-up process, users need to provide their date of birth to confirm their age. If they are younger than 13, their parents/guardians need to setup their child's account first, before the child can access it. Children under 13 cannot create their own accounts. They can takeover the account that their parent setup for them, with a parent's approval.
Privacy settings: We provide users with the ability to control their privacy settings, including what information is visible to whom. When you set up your Heja Profile all your sensitive information (medical details, email, phone number, address & birthdate) in your Profile is automatically set to "admin only visibility." The bio is set to "everyone." You can switch who sees which info by going to your You tab > edit profile > privacy.
Connection requests: When someone wants to connect to your child, a parent connected to the child, or the team admin will need to approve that connection first. If your child manages their account they can also approve it. This ensures that no one can access your child's account without permission.
Advertising: Children under 13 will receive no ads, and children under 18 will receive limited ads.
We understand that safety is a top priority for our users, especially parents of young children, and we take pride in our efforts to create a safe and secure environment for all of our users.
